Nokia Confirms The Discontinuation Of Symbian

Last year at MWC 2012, Nokia unveiled what is still the best camera smartphone in the market currently. The 808 pureview with its awesome camera was at that time said to be one of the last symbian devices to be ever produced. But now with Nokia fully transitioning and focusing on Windows Phone they have officially confirmed that Symbian is discontinued which means that the 808 Pureview is the last of its kind and thus discontinuing the OS. Symbian has been around for about 2 decades and is one of the pioneers in the smartphone shaping how our smartphones looked like today. To me personally this is a very sad moment because symbian is actually a very good and solid OS but there is no adoption whatsoever.
During our transition to Windows Phone through 2012, we continued to ship devices based on Symbian. The Nokia 808 PureView, a device which showcases our imaging capabilities and which came to market in mid-2012, was the last Symbian device from Nokia.
As the Saying goes, all good things have to end
